Don't fancy the idea of crowds and traffic? Do your shopping online. If you have had it with traditional holiday shopping you are not alone. Even the most fearless and most organized holiday shopping divas tire from the endless crowds and cheesy holiday music. Luck for us in this day and age there is another option: internet shopping.

Internet shopping is sweeping the nation and is quickly become a very normal occurrence. Yet as any shopping diva knows there are a few ins and outs that can greatly increase your success.

Shop Savvy

First off, just because you can shop from home in your undies does not mean that you need any less preparation. You are a shopping diva, after all, and just because you are taking your list into cyberspace instead of retail space does not eliminate the need to check it twice. Once you have prepared your list with the utmost care, then you are ready to shop.

Shop Safe

With identity theft being an ever-growing threat, one of the first things an internet shopping diva needs to know is how to make her funds secure. There are a few ways to do this. One of the first ways is to make certain you only give out credit card information on secured websites.

Check if the site is secure by looking for a padlock icon on your browser window. If there is no such icon, the site is not secure and you shouldn't give out your information. Never ever give out credit card information in email. Email is not secure.

Other security measures include using the same credit card to make all your online purchases. This card should carry a low spending limit. That way if your information is stolen the culprit can't rack up huge bills. Also using just one card eliminates the question of what card was used when or if you need to contest a charge.

Shop Smart

One of the great things about taking the shopping online is that there are tons of review websites. When shopping in person at Holiday Toddler Toy Emporium, the only review you are likely to get about a toy is from the box, fellow shoppers or the teenage sales clerk. These resources often leave much to be desired.

Not so with online stores. Reviews are plentiful, detailed and have real life experience. This kind of information at your fingertips will help you avoid poor purchases.

Shop Savings

Hesitate to shop online because you think the cost is too much? This is not true. You can use the same coupons online as in the store for cost savings. In addition to coupon savings you rarely need to pay sales tax on online purchases. This is a savings of on average 8% right back into your pocket.

Shipping costs are a concern, but if you shop early you can avoid high express shipping rates as well as the trip to the post office when you need to send your three-year-old nephew his Christmas gift.

A Christmas gift basket of a different sort for the newborn baby would be a moses basket.

by Edie Mindell

A Christmas gift basket of a different sort for the newborn baby would be a moses basket. The moses baskets are the perfect gift for using when visiting family and friends as the baby will then have some where to sleep other than the car seat or other carrier.

What to get for the parents who seem to have everything and want for nothing is often a perplexing question. When babies are new it seems that gifts are showered upon them from all sides. New parents like to shop for and pamper their new babies. Friends and family also ask parents what their wants and needs are to insure that the baby is well supplied. Grandparents are perhaps the biggest spenders sparing no expense to spoil that baby even though the baby has not been born.

The Christmas Question

This initial cascade of baby gifts is fun, but the holiday season can create a problem: What can I possibly get for this baby that she doesn't already have in duplicate? Holiday shopping should be fun, especially when the gift is for a baby or toddler. To this end when searching for that perfect Christmas gift for baby think of obscure, but fun items that will enhance baby's well being but might be considered non-essential.

Non-essential items are more interesting to select and often fill a need mom or dad didn't even know they had. This is why these particular items often escape selection in the deluge of gift giving that precedes and follows the baby's birth. A perfect example of a great Christmas gift idea for a baby is the Moses Basket.

A basket?

Moses baskets are made to create a portable bed for baby. These baskets can be quite simple woven and lined with cute linens or very ornate with handles, frilly details complete with a shade canopy. A Moses basket allows baby a safe place sheltered from the drafts of winter to sleep or rest when mom or dad's arms are otherwise occupied.

Different from a swing, bouncy seat or play yard, Moses Baskets transport easily from room to room, take up very little space and create a warm snuggly bed.

What's the point?

This gift is the very definition of filling a need that mom didn't even know she had. Most new parents get the bouncy seat, which is portable and the baby swing, which is not so portable thinking that is plenty. What happens in reality is this: their tiny new born slips and slides so much in the bouncy chair that it can't be used until they get bigger with more muscle control. The swing works well but limits mom to being in the living room because it is difficult to move.

A Moses Basket solves these problems. The basket is easily moved from space to space. It is not large and is warmer and more supportive of new babies than a bouncy chair. The smaller size allows mom and dad to take baby with them to any room while they work or relax.

Form and function

Even the simplest Moses baskets are beautiful. This makes them a welcome addition to any dcor. Baby accessories like swings sometimes create an eyesore that parents can't wait to remove once they are out grown. A Moses basket does not carry this same stigma.

by Ally Combs

Using infant pacifiers is a subject that's been debated and beaten to dead for years. Doctors as well as parents will continue this debate with no resolution in the near future.

Binkies, dummies, soothers, or whatever name you decide to call them, these little devices have been calming and quieting fussy and sick babies for many years in some form or another. But, why is there still so much discussion about something that's been used for so long? Because as with most anything, there are pros and cons to consider, especially when it comes to something as important as your baby and his or her development.

The Up Side Of Using A Infant Pacifier

Some babies are simply happier and feel comforted when they have something to suck on, greatly helping mom to also feel happier and comforted when their fussy baby is now content. And, as any mom can tell you, there's always something to do, and a pacifier can help to "buy" you a few extra minutes when baby decides it's now time to eat and you haven't yet prepared a bottle or don't have a comfortable place to nurse.

You might want to have a pacifier ready for the times that you go to the doctor. Procedures involving pain, say shots or drawing blood, these are the ones that the pacifier will really come in handy.

Keep in mind that infant pacifiers are disposable at any time, and they should be thrown away after a certain amount of usage, however, if your baby decides that he or she would rather suck on their thumb or fingers and doesn't have access to another one, you may find it's much harder to break this habit when the time comes.

A big plus for pacifier use is the connection between using them and the reduction of SIDS cases. Babies who use pacifiers have a lesser chance of suffering from sudden infant death syndrome. Why you ask? The answer is still unknown.

The Downside Of Using A Infant Pacifier

Of course, as you might expect, there are a few pitfalls or drawbacks to consider when it comes to whether or not you should give your baby a pacifier and also how frequently. Using an infant pacifier too early on may interfere with the important aspect of breast feeding as some babies aren't able to differentiate between the nipple and the pacifier and then have trouble learning how to nurse from the breast properly.

One thing that you don't want is your baby ending up dependent on the pacifier. Regular usage at bedtime may start something you wish you never had. You are going to be rather dismayed when they spit it out in the middle of the night, and refuse to sleep until you replace it.

Sometimes the overuse of a pacifier can result in your baby developing a rash on the face, as well as the lips. The rashes are a more immediate issue, a possible long term consideration could be the development of dental problems.

Although the American Academy of Pediatrics states that using a pacifier for the early years is acceptable, continued use after that could cause other issues such as slanted teeth and malformation of the jaw.

Once you opt to utilize a pacifier, it would be advantageous to try several different types. The infant pacifier your baby likes most is the best choice. Make sure that you buy a few to have on hand. You don't want to be searching the entire house for them.

It is always a nightmare for parents to lure their children to attend school. Your children have to receive education from school because it is obligatory and it is important. You will feel extremely irritated when you encounter this problem.Don't worry, here are some key tips that can you do to stop this nightmare.

There are countless reasons why your children dislike school. Before take any actions, you should figure out the underlying causes and deal with them. As parents, you can perform some " magic" to help your children love school when they are still young. The following are some causes that you children might dislike school.

Firstly, children get bored easily if they find their class work is not challenging enough. Children also need full attention from their teachers, or else they will loose their attention readily.

They may also get bored if their learning styles are not in line with the teacher's teaching style. You should find out where the problem is. Is it the teacher, the curriculum or your child's learning style? Then fulfill your child's needs by making changes. Changes can be asking your child's classmates to take care of your child, finding a brand-new learning style for your child, etc.

The second reason that makes children dislike school is their problems with peers. With this problem, you should let your child find out his or her own way to blend into school and only step in if this problem keeps growing.

Building up your children's self-confidence is a way to deal with such problem. You can encourage your children to participate various extracurricular activities which enable them to develop positive friendships. You may also seek help from a counselor. If there is no significant improvement in the situation, the ultimate solution would be changing schools.

Children feel pressurized when they have tests and exams, even at a young age. Marks are becoming more important. It would be better if you can figure out the sources of "pressure" and find ways to alleviate your children's pressure.

After all, It is advisable to help your children building up his/her self-confidence. You may explain to your children the importance of psychological health. The "prerequisite" of a child to like school is to help them like learning. A school should be a place that promotes learning not performing.

Others contend the reason is because new moms are busy; parents with new babies have very little extra time (which may explain the frumpy clothes).

The problem is that if new mothers fail to take care of themselves, it can affect their mood and their energy levels. An exhausted and frustrated parent may be unable to provide the care and tenderness a young child needs. Below, we'll describe a few of the most prolific new mother stereotypes so you can see if you're in danger of falling into any of them. We'll also offer a few tips for breaking free.

Are You Typecasting Yourself?

One of the most common roles is that of the Frumpy Mom. Her clothes might escape the laundry a few days too many and her hairdryer may have remained turned off for the past several weeks. There's nothing wrong with a comfortable style, but a fine line separates "comfortable" from frumpy.

The Supermom is another stereotype. Eschewing a slow-paced lifestyle, she works full-time, always has time to spend with her baby, maintains a flawlessly clean house, and rarely has a hair out of place. For the Supermom, slowing down might put more time into her hands than she knows what to do with.

The Gossip can be found with other new moms at parks, picnics, and other functions. If there's something to hide, she'll find it and spread it around. This is one of the easiest stereotypes to fall into. If you whisper into another mom's ear about the poor rearing standards of someone else, you may have just crossed the line.

Breaking Free Of Common Stereotypes

Suppose you've noticed a few traits in your behavior that fit the above descriptions. There are easy ways to break free. First, make a commitment to not gossip with the other mothers. It's a hard habit to break, but once you do, you'll be better for it. Second, apply a little image control. That means keeping your hair appointments and putting on a little foundation and lip gloss when you leave the house. Third, if you're an overachieving mom, get used to letting a couple of things slide every once in awhile. The world will not end.

The common stereotypes that new mothers fall into can dilute the enjoyment of spending time with your baby and others. Once you identify the problematic traits, you can take steps to break free and truly enjoy the delights of motherhood.

School is important and unavoidable for children. But a lot of children just simply don't like going to school. If this happens to your kid, instead of wasting tonnes of effort forcing your child to go to school every day, trying to help your child enjoy school more might be a better solution.

There are a lot of potential reasons for why your child does not like school. Thus, to help your child like school, your must first identify the true reason for why they avoid school and then use some tricks to help them overcome the problems. To guide you through the process, below are some common reasons for why children do not like school.

The first reason is boredom. Children may be bored by the easy classwork at school. They may lose their concentration in class once they are not given enough attention by the teacher.

Another possible case might be that your child's way of learning differs a lot from the teacher' s style of teaching. Thus, if your kid tells you that he/she get bored at school, you should try to figure out which of the above two cases is the reason and tact upon it. For examples, you might place your child in more challenging courses, suggest the teacher to give more attention to your child, or help your child develop a better learning style.

Next, children sometimes encounter social problems. A poor relationship with peers may attribute to the reason why your children dislike school. When your child comes across such problem, you have to think carefully whether you should offer help or allow your child to solve this by themselves. You are encouraged to pay more attention on your kids and be sure that you are aware of such problem.

Help your children build self-esteem and make them like to learn. You have to let them know that test scores are not everything at school which is a place for learning, but not for showing off.

There is an heroic band of guinea pigs who defend the world against evil. Why not? Call them and they'll show up at your child's next birthday party. You can use them when some villain tries to break up the celebration. Check out all these cool G Force birthday supplies and find out how you can be protected.

Get the action going by sending out some G-Force Invitations. Your operation may begin top secret, but you don't want it to stay that way. Mail these and everyone will know that a huge party is about to start. Like any protective agency, it's important to be prepared.

Before the team arrives, select the G-Force Deluxe Party Pack. You'll be well covered in the decoration and dessert serving zones. It holds a complete set of plates, cups, activity placemats, and more. You can serve refreshments knowing your tasty offerings are covered. Then, pull out the balloons and inflate them (with a Helium tank accessory). Roll out the crepe paper rolls. String some curling ribbon. Your gathering is now prepared for all those animal heroes to arrive.

To keep your heroes at your table peaceful while you set up, be sure to stock up on G-Force Tattoos. The partygoers will be so busy putting them on they won't have time to start a riot. Not to worry, though. They wash off easily after the mission is over. A little soap and water and everyone's secret identity is preserved.

Remember those G-Force Cone Hats, too, while you're at it. What's a party without hats? The set includes 8 cardboard hats with elastic chin straps that feature the characters from the terrific new film. Each one shows a team member dressed in all the high-tech gear every good agent needs.

While you're laying out all the gear your team members need, don't forget to distribute a G-Force Party Favor Kit for each one. Each green-and-white striped box contains a G-Force mystery pad and decoder, a sticker sheet, a Snap-n-Glow pop, a telescope, and some black slime. They'll need some time to investigate their kit bag, so greet every arrival at the door with their own box.

The sticker sheets (like the tattoos) also are available separately. So are the Telescopes that each scout will need. The 7" long plastic looking glass is perfect for those on the lookout for the enemy. Use the tattoos and stickers to identify who is one of the good guys and who is with the bad guys.

Use the G-Force Mystery Water Paint Boards to let everyone practice how to uncover a hidden message. This set of 4 paint boards make it easy to keep everyone really sharp as they try to solve the mystery. Just wet a finger and rub to reveal a secret message. Then, gather all the secret agents around to plan the next step.

Your birthday planning mission is now nearing a successful conclusion. You've told everyone where to meet and stocked up on G Force birthday party items to keep them covered at the meeting. Now, prepare to save the world!

Give the best gifts and still have a sane holiday without endless shopping. These tips are sure to come in handy when you are holiday shopping for babies and toddlers this season.

Does this sound familiar to anyone: The past several years have seen a veritable baby boom in your family. You and your siblings or siblings in law seem to have all been drinking the same water because you have all been blessed to become parents in the recent past.

This boom of babies has been most welcome by all, especially the delighted grandparents. As you all moved into parenthood together you have navigated certain new boundaries and still maintained a harmonious and loving family.

The advent of Christmas!

Now the blessed season of Christmas is knocking on your door and a whole new worry emerges. You would love to give a gift to each and everyone of your nieces and nephews from the oldest toddlers to the newest baby. Yet this gift giving bonanza is fraught with certain difficulties.

You and your siblings, while tied by strong family ties are not in the same places financially, in gift giving ideas and shipping distances. These differences make it difficult to know what type of gifts are appreciated or offensive.

The gift issue

All families at some point go through this same type of growing pain when grandbabies begin to arrive. You want to show your love, yet have no desire to be the one who trumps other's gifts if yours are more expensive or numerous. Worse yet your gifts end up making someone else look like a Holiday Humbug because you arrive with arms laden with gifts and all they have to pass out is hugs and kisses.

Get on the same page

To this end it is time to fill your role as a parent, sibling and as an aunt or uncle and broach the subject openly. Feelings will not be hurt if holiday gift giving plans are discussed openly among parents. This might not be the easiest conversation to begin, but it is much better to talk about it before seasons of gift giving blunders stack up and create hurt or resentment.

Get the ball rolling

To get the subject out into the open can be done any one of a number of ways. It is best to do it at a time when most of the family is gathered together in one place. Making sure as many people have a say in the initial conversation will ensure that no one feels backed into a gift giving corner because they weren't able to help set the ground rules right from the start.

Shopping for toddlers and babies at Christmas time should be full of fun. Discussing openly gift giving plans with your family will make sure your gifts are received in the same spirit of loving holiday fun.

by Edie Mindell

Let's face it - we all love the idea of the little red wagon. For some their fondness may have grown out of their attachment to the wagon they had when they were young. Other's obsession with it might be more sentimental with memories linked to grandma's house and quality time spent with cousins as grandma pulled you around the block. Perhaps you always harbored a secret and unfulfilled desire to have a wagon of your very own.

No matter the starting point of the red wagon obsession, you vowed that your children would be properly and continuously supplied with a one of their own to enjoy hours of play and fond memories for years. Now the time has come for you to make good on your vow to yourself. You have been blessed with a bundle of joy that you would like to take on a ride in a little red wagon.

The thought of a wagon which pops into most adult's heads brings with it an uncannily similar mental image: a red metal contraption, with a black handle and white decals on the sides, rust spots and wear may vary depending on use or abuse. Times have changed and with it the wagon we all love. If you have a girl you can get a princess wagon befitted with sparkles and pink paint. Boys also have themed wagons of their own. Not to be out done, popular children's shows have emblazoned their images on many wagons. You can choose from metal or plastic.

There is still the perennial favorite of the traditional red wagon. Yet even the traditional item has morphed into several varieties. You can choose from the basic red wagon for use out doors, a red wagon topped with wooden railings and even a mini-red wagon for use inside with stuffed toys and dolls.

When trying to choose let your nostalgic need be placed on the back burner and consider what your baby or toddler is likely to want most. Girly-girls will love the red models. If your child is nuts for Barney, as embarrassed as you might be to pull your son in his very own Radio Flyer wagon while he belts 'I love you, you love me...' at the top of his voice, looking lovingly at his purple friend. This is is the memory and toy he is likely to cherish most. A large wagon is not always feasible. In this case a small indoor red wagon might be the perfect way to get your child a wagon of his own.

If you are ahead of the game and your child is still a baby, then buy the item you want most (maybe think about the models with higher sides) and your child will grow up with the wagon they love most because you played with them in it since before they could remember. Any way you slice it, it's a winning gift.
